Again!! Smuggling 158 Kg of Dried Cannabis and 3 Suspects Successfully Arrested by Gayo Lues Departemental Police

GAYO LUES | The Gayo Lues Departemental Police of the Narcotics Investigation Unit again secured three suspects with 158 kilograms of dried marijuana when they were about to be brought to Medan via the Terangun-Abdya route. As a result, three suspects were also arrested in the case.

Chief of Gayo Lues Departemental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Carlie Syahputra Bustamam, accompanied by the Head of the Gayo Lues Departemental Police of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, Police Inspector First Class Darli, said the three people arrested in the drug case were KH (47), a resident of Kuta Baro Village, Trumon District, South Aceh Regency. Furthermore, RA (36) is a resident of Padang Terangun Village, Terangun District, Gayo Lues Regency, and BU (29) is a resident of Palok Village, Blangkejeren District.

“So the chronology is, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 21:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), members of the Narcotics Investigation Unit received information that one car would pass through the Terangun-Abdya crossing. As a follow-up, members carried out a closed operation in Jabo Village, Terangun of the Gayo Lues-Abdya causeway at 22:30 WIB,” explained the Chief of Gayo Lues Departemental Police at a press conference at the Gayo Lues Departemental Police Headquarters, Thursday (11/11/2021).

Furthermore, the Chief of Departemental Police explained, at around 03:00 WIB on Thursday, November 4, members of the Narcotics Investigation Unit stopped a very suspicious black Avanza car. After being searched, it was found that it contained 6 Gunny sacks of dried marijuana containing 158 bales or 158 kilograms.

“Then we managed to secure the driver with the initials KH, then from the results of the development, KH admitted that he was ordered by someone named Pelita who is currently in Meulaboh Correctional Institution (Lembaga Pemasyarakatan/LP) serving a narcotics crime sentence, and from KH’s statement, Pelita was ordered by RA according to number The cellphone that Pelita gave to KH to be contacted,” explained the Chief of Departemental Police.

After the development was carried out, members of the Narcotics Investigation Unit provoked RH by ordering the arrested suspect KH to contact RA by saying that the tire of the car carrying the marijuana had burst.

“At 03:30 WIB, RA came to Jabo Street, Terangun District by riding a motorcycle and was arrested. From RH’s statement, he was ordered by the BU to find a car that could transport marijuana from Palok village, Blangkejeren sub-district to Medan-North Sumatra,” explained the Chief of Departemental Police.

Furthermore, members of the Narcotics Investigation Unit conducted a re-investigation of BU, and an arrest was made on Thursday at 07:00 WIB at his home in Palok Village. From the results of the examination of BU, he admitted that he was ordered by someone named Tok Haikal, a resident of Agusen who is currently on the People Search List (DPO).

For their actions, the three suspects were threatened with Article 115 Paragraph (2) Jp Article 111 Paragraph (2) Jo Article 132 Paragraph (2) Law. RI No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 20 years of life.

According to the Chief of Departemental Police, residents still grow marijuana in Gayo Lues due to a lack of socialization. Many lands can be planted with marijuana, even though the results of agricultural and plantation commodities are auspicious.

“Who doesn’t know Agusen Village, almost all the marijuana we catch comes from there. And the only way so that marijuana is not planted in Agusen, we must enliven Agusen Village by making it a tourist attraction,” explained the Chief of Departemental Police.
